Revlon ColourStay Foundation Review

Hello you beauties!

I hope you all had a great Christmas.

Back with the beauty posts this week and today I wanted to talk to you about the Revlon ColourStay foundation. With the colder weather, my skin has been getting a lot drier which I've found really annoying as no matter how much moisturiser I use, it stays dry. And the foundations that I usually use aren't the best for dry skin as they tend to stick to the dry areas of my skin, especially around and on my nose.

Yes, these foundations are good for normal or oily skin so they're perfect for me during the summer but not so much during the winter. So a couple of weeks ago I went looking for the perfect foundation for during the winter months. The one I chose to try for now is the Revlon ColourStay foundation for normal/dry skin and this is what I thought about it.

I have heard many great things about this foundation over the past couple of years but have always experimented with other foundations and so never got round to trying this one. But when I was trying to decide which one to try, this foundation was on the top of my list.

Once I tried it out, it left me wondering why I hadn't tried it before. It is definitely the best foundation I have ever used.

I chose the shade 'Ivory' as it was the lightest shade they had. Of course, I had no clue if it would be the right shade for me but due to the fact that I'm like super pale I always usually go for the lightest shade (which is usually the right shade for me) but there is always the risk that it can be too pale. However, 'Ivory' was the perfect shade for me and it doesn't oxidise at all.

It offers really great coverage too, which I wasn't expecting. With a lot of things happening in my life recently, I have been very stressed and have had a few serious spots on my face (you can tell I was stressed as I never usually get spots) and this foundation actually managed to cover them quite well. Obviously they didn't cover them perfectly, but it would take a very high coverage foundation for it to be fully covered. It just meant that the spots were less obvious and I didn't have to use as much concealer to try and cover my spots more.

This foundation is also very easy to apply. It doesn't dry too quickly so is easy to blend and isn't left with streaks when applying with a brush (although I think that is usually an issue to do with the brush and not the foundation). It also stays on for a while during the day which is great if you have a busy schedule where topping up on your foundation will not necessarily be easy to do.

I believe this foundation is very affordable to. Maybe not as affordable as other foundations that I've ever used (such as my Rimmel London foundation and my Bourjois foundation) but it isn't as expensive as other foundations can get. I bought my bottle of this foundation from Superdrug for just £12.99 which means I can easily afford to repurchase this in the future if I decide that this foundation is the right one for me.

And the most important part? It definitely does what it says on the bottle. It really is great for dry skin as it doesn't stick to my usual dry areas and make it look worse like the other foundations usually do. I really do feel like this this is a foundation I will use all year round and not just in the winter.

Have you tried out this foundation yet? What is your opinion on it?

I'll be back on Sunday with a special New Years' Eve post for you all.

My Christmas Makeup Look 2017

Hello you beauties!

As this is going to be my last post before Christmas Day, I thought the only acceptable post for me to write today would be my planned makeup look for the special day. I wrote one of these posts last year as part of Blogmas (which I apologise for not doing this year) but because I've had a whole year to experiment with new makeup so, while some of the items I'm using this year may be exactly the same as last year, there will probably be some different items in the look too.

Primer: Nivea Men Post Balm Shave
Foundation: Revlon Colour Stay Foundation for Normal/Dry Skin in the shade 'Ivory'
Concealer: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in the shade '1-Fair'
Powder: Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder in the shade 'Translucent'
Bronzer: Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Blush: BareMinerals ReadyBlush in the shade 'The Indecent Proposal'
Highlight: One of the gold shades (probably one of the lighter ones) from the Makeup Revolution Sophx highlighter palette
Eye Primer: Gosh Prime 'n' Refresh
Eyeshadows: I will probably create a nude eye look using my Makeup Revolution Ultimate 144 Eyeshadow Palette Matte 2017 and then, from my other Ultimate 144 Eyeshadow Palette with shimmer shades, I will use a gold, red or green shimmer-y shade for that pop of Christmas-sy colour
Mascara: Princess Marcella Borghese Superiore State of the Art Mascara
Eyebrows: Soap and Glory Eyebrow Archery Pencil in the shade 'Brownie Points'
Lip Colour:

What is your Christmas look this year?

I'll be back on Christmas Day with a 'What I Got For Christmas' post.

Body Confidence

Hello you beauties!

Today's post is a little different than usual. I've been thinking a lot about the past year and what has changed. And one significant change in my life has to be my attitude towards body confidence - mine especially. It probably helps to think about it now because it is being talked about a lot in the media these days

For anyone who knows me well, they will know that I am not happy with my body. And I know that I'm no where near skinny or slim, and yes I am medically overweight. But should that stop me from doing anything though? No. But does it? Yes.

I used to hate looking at myself in the mirror and would always avoid places like fitting rooms, and if I ever walked past a mirror in a shop, I'd hurry up. I'd hate when people took pictures of me, so I'd avoid it wherever I could (yes, that does mean me and my boyfriend have very few pictures together). I also haven't been swimming for years - not because I can't swim but because I don't have the confidence to wear a bikini or a one-piece. To some people, lack of body confidence might not seem like that bad a thing but to someone like me, it can massively affect your life.

I've seen a lot in social media with celebrities encouraging you to embrace your natural beauty and encouraging body confidence. But in my experience? That doesn't help. These celebrities are always stunning and I KNOW that I look nothing like them but there always is that pressure there to look like them.

And when you know that you definitely look nothing like them, it can be damaging. You're always thinking you're not good enough. There's been many times where I've thought my boyfriend deserved better just because of the way I looked. Why should he stick with me when there's skinnier girls out there? Isn't skinny what all boys want girls to be like? Of course it's not. Every guy has their own preferences (most just don't care at all what your body looks like) and it's just the media making us think that we all have to be skinny like the supermodels that are shown on TV, in newspapers and magazines.

I used to hate looking at my body. Every inch disgusted me. The fact that I don't have a flat stomach. The fact that my thighs are actually quite large and covered in stretch marks. I hate many things about my body, as do many other women/girls that I know. A year ago, there were many many things I would have changed about myself (basically everything). But that has changed.

In April, I met my boyfriend and I will admit that meeting him really helped me with my body confidence. Before I met my boyfriend, I was actually in a very on-off relationship with a guy who finally decided that he didn't want to get back together with me because I was too fat. Getting comments like that really does hurt and makes you feel worthless. That all changed when I met my current boyfriend.

He's always encouraging me to love myself as I am rather than trying to impress anyone else. And obviously that is the sort of support you need from someone. And because of that, I am definitely a more confident person now.

So how has my body confidence changed? Well, I'm no longer finding it as hard to go into fitting rooms and actually do it more often now so that I'm not risking buying clothes that don't fit or don't suit me just because I'm too scared to look at myself in a mirror.

I've also started wearing clothes that I would not have worn before because I was too self conscious. I've started wearing skirts a lot more recently and even bought myself a new dress at the weekend. Yes, I do still wear really dark tights to cover my legs as I do still feel very self conscious about them but my confidence is improving, hence why I'm wearing skirts more often.

And I'm actually starting to appreciate my body more in general, especially my stomach. It definitely isn't a flat stomach (and probably never will be) but the more and more I look at it, the less disgusted I feel by it. I think it helps that I have actually lost weight and that's helping me be more positive about myself. But the most useful thing is knowing that I shouldn't care what other people think and my boyfriend loves me for who I am.

If you want to share your experiences with body confidence with me, then feel free to by either commenting on this post or emailing me at instaurabeauty@gmail.com.

I'll be back next week with another post for you all.

My Christmas Wish List

 Hello you beauties!

I must admit this to you, but I never really thought about what I actually want for Christmas this year and, to be honest, I haven't actually asked for anything this Christmas. I will admit, that is probably because anything that I might possibly want is too expensive to consider asking for it from friends/family (I never want anyone to spend too much money on me) or it is the sort of thing that I would love to own but would probably never use because of how much it costs and then realistically it would be a waste of money. But if I could ask for absolutely anything for Christmas, regardless of the cost, from my loved ones, then here is my short wish list.

1. A Morphe eyeshadow palette
I have a feeling this may have been on my list last year, or may have been on one (or multiple ones) of my lust lists that I sometimes do, so if you've read my blog before then you may know that I have been wanting a Morphe eyeshadow palette for so long. Who wouldn't want one!? The shade range seems so great and I've heard that the pigmentation of the eyeshadows is amazing.

2. Calvin Klein underwear
Okay, this probably sounds a little weird but recently I have really been wanting some Calvin Klein underwear. A few years ago I used to see all over social media that everyone (well, it seemed like everyone anyway) owned some of this underwear and also back then I thought it was really expensive (which I suppose it is for underwear but it is branded after all). But now I just really want to own some myself - they just look so good and so comfortable! It's a really weird request, but I really wouldn't mind if someone bought me some Calvin Klein underwear for Christmas.

3. Spectrum makeup brushes
As a beauty lover, I will admit that I probably own more makeup brushes than I actually need. But that doesn't stop me from wanting more. And the Spectrum brushes (again, some that I have been wanting for a very long time) are probably some of the most beautiful brushes I have ever seen. I have noticed that they have started to sell a few of these individually in Boots at a reasonable price (priced between £5 and £20 for one singular brush) so I could easily buy them for myself but there would be nothing more satisfying than opening a special set of these on Christmas morning.

4. Harry Potter wand makeup brushes
Yes, there are even more brushes that I want, but these ones are probably some that I wouldn't use but just want to own because they're so great to look at. I am genuinely in love with the Harry Potter wand brushes - they're just so magical (excuse the pun)! If anyone was to buy these for me this Christmas I swear I will love them forever.

5. Mermaid blanket
I am a 20 year old seriously wanting a mermaid blanket this Christmas! I don't know if you have all seen them (but obviously I will include a picture) but I found these mermaid blankets in New Look a few months ago - probably around August time - and immediately wanted one. They come in a pink or a blue-ish teal colour and personally I would go for the blue. They're around £20 each so I've never really felt the need to buy one for myself (as I've never really had the money to be able to spend £20 on one item) but I have been dropping hints at my boyfriend ever since I first saw them.

6. Mini cactus
Okay, so this item may be just as weird as the request for expensive underwear. I always feel like a room needs a plant to make it complete and at uni (when I was in Brighton and then when I move to London next year) having a plant in your room makes everything feel cosy. But I'm just not the sort of person who can look after plants very well. I did buy myself a fake lavender plant to take with me when I moved to Brighton but I genuinely would love to have a little cactus in my room, especially in London. A real plant that takes very little looking after.

So this list was a little bit longer than I originally thought it would be but this would genuinely be the full length of the list of things I would love to receive for Christmas this year. Obviously any gift I receive will be appreciated and loved but these are the only 6 items I would specifically ask for.

What is on your Christmas wish list this year? Is any of it the same as mine?

I'll be back next week with another post for you all.

Best Christmas Beauty Gift Sets of 2017

Hello you beauties!

Christmas is less than a month away already and I know a lot of people may have already done their Christmas shopping but I know there will also be some people who still need some ideas. I haven't actually needed to buy anything beauty gifts this year (as the only person I've actually really bought anything for this year is my boyfriend).

I have seen some really good gift sets though which I know I would love to receive myself so I wanted to share these with you all.

From searching around Boots and Superdrug mainly, I feel like my favourite gift sets are definitely from the brands Makeup Revolution, No7, Soap and Glory, and Sleek.

The Makeup Revolution gift sets (available in Superdrug) definitely seem to be worth the money - most of them only being £15 each. Most of these include a palette of some form, with a couple of brushes, or a sponge, or maybe a fixing spray of some sort. These are great because the palettes are so large so they accommodate for everyone- no matter what shade you need, it'll probably be there for you. They have all sorts of different types of these sets - such as sculpting palettes, contour, strobing and highlighting, brows (whatever you want, you name it). You definitely get a lot for just £15 and I know I would love it if I opened one of these on Christmas Day.

Soap and Glory (available in Boots) has always been well-known by every beauty lover and always impresses with their Christmas gifts each year. Again, they're really affordable too, usually being priced between £10 and £30 (although if you want to spend a little bit more on a certain friend or family member then they have more expensive gift sets too). These gift sets, in my opinion, would probably be best for someone who loves skincare as these are very skincare heavy, even though some do feature some of the brand's makeup. I haven't tried much of their skincare (and only a bit of their makeup) but from my own personal experience with the brand, I can easily say that these sets are worth the money. My favourites are the 'Pick & Spritz', 'Pout-y Popper' and 'Glow Ball'.

Most of the best gift sets seem to be from Boots this year and it's been nice to explore Boots again recently as I've been spending most of my time and money in Superdrug (probably because of my ongoing obsession with Makeup Revolution). Boots have definitely outdone Superdrug this year with their gift sets and so I want to share some more of them with you.

Sleek have produced some good gift sets this year, with their focus mainly being on their matte liquid lipsticks (also known as 'Matte Me') and their eyeshadow palettes. Their famous highlighter palette, Solstice, is also in a few of their sets. I've used one of their 'Matte Me' lipsticks before, in the shade 'Birthday Suit', and I also own the Solstice highlighter palette and even though it's only a couple of the brand's products, I do really like this brand. And from the quality of these products, I would happily purchase more from them. I have heard great things about their eyeshadow palettes too, so these gift sets are definitely great for any makeup lover. They're very affordable too as each set is priced between £10 and £30. My only problem with the Sleek sets though is the fact that a lot of them only have mini versions of the product in it. And I know you probably are still getting your monies worth with the set even if the products are miniature but I always think the best thing about any gift set is being able to get full sized products in it for such a decent price.

Even though there are many, many other brand's gift sets I could talk about, the final brand I'm going to be mentioning today is No7. This is a brand I have used a lot in the past (and I do still use sometimes now) and although I wouldn't say they're the best brand I've ever used, they're definitely not the worst and I do like owning their products and will continue to use them. Their sets are so nice this year too, and seem really sophisticated while also being a really thoughtful gift. There is a great mix of makeup and skincare so you can find anything for anyone, whether they prefer skincare or makeup you will be able to find the perfect gift for them. These gift sets from this brand are pricier than the others as No7 is considered to be on the more expensive end of the spectrum when it comes to the prices of drugstore makeup. There are some items less than £10 but a lot are priced between £20 and £40. I personally really like the look of the 5-in-1 brow palette and their limited edition illuminating palette.

So these were just a few Christmas gifts that I've liked the look of this year. Obviously there are many other great ones, such as from NYX, FCUK and Jack Wills but we'd be here for a very very long time if I was going to tell you every single Christmas gift that caught my eye. Have you bought any beauty Christmas gifts for any friends/family yet?

I'll be back next week with another post for you all.

Beauty Advent Calendars I Would Consider Buying *SPOILERS*

Hello you beauties!

Disclaimer: If you don't want any of the contents of advent calendars to be ruined then I would advise you don't read this post

Last year, if you read my blogmas posts, you will know that I had the Makeup Revolution advent calendar and I actually really liked it (it definitely was worth the money). This year I won't be having a beauty advent calendar as I own so much makeup so the last thing I need to do is add more to my collection. However, I have looked into many of the beauty advent calendars that brands have on offer this year and have decided on which ones I would consider buying this year if I was to have one. I wanted to share all these with you.

If I had to choose my favourite calendar of this year then it definitely would be the Sleek one. At just £35 from Boots, I believe that it's great value for money as you get 24 items in this advent calendar and while most of them are the mini versions of products, I still think that this calendar is definitely worth more than £35. The range of products available in this calendar is outstanding and I am really excited to especially see one of their blushers and 3 eyeshadow palettes in there! The only problem is that this calendar seems so popular that it actually seems to have gone out of stock almost everywhere and even if I wanted one it doesn't look like I'd actually be able to get ahold of one.

I also like the look of the NYX advent calendar this year too. I was almost tempted to buy their calendar last year as I love that they had lip products and eyeshadows but it was way too expensive for me to afford at the time. This year their product is just lipsticks which I suppose is okay because my favourite thing about NYX are definitely their lip products. I don't think it's that bad a price at £50 either considering that a lot of their lip products are priced around £10 each. One thing that is stopping me from buying this calendar this year is just purely the fact that I feel like a lot of the shades in the calendar won't actually suit me and so I won't get much use out of most of the products.

The Charlotte Tilbury advent calendar is one I have always wanted to try as I've always been desperate to try out their products and the items in this years calendar seem amazing! With a mix of makeup and skincare, I really do believe that this calendar really lets you explore and discover the brand. The only problem is that this calendar is pricey (which obviously you expect from such a luxury brand as Charlotte Tilbury is) and there is no way I can afford £150 for one advent calendar.

BareMinerals has always been one of my favourite brands ever since I first started to use their products so the idea of a BareMinerals advent calendar is really appealing to me. Just being able to add another product of theirs to my collection every day just seems so exciting. There is such a variety of different beauty products in different shades in this calendar which makes it perfect for everyone. I just don't think I could afford £75 for one calendar right now...

Have you got a beauty advent calendar this year? Which one did you choose?

I'll be back next week with another post for you all.

My Everyday Autumn Look

Hello you beauties!

Although I haven't been wearing makeup as much recently as I used to but I definitely do still have a go to look for this time of the year. So I wanted to share this with you all today.

1. Fusion Beauty Brightening Primer and purple CC stick
During the winter months, I tend to get really red and dry skin due to the cooler weather drying it out. So the first thing I do is use my purple CC stick (from an unknown brand as I received it as an extra item in a beauty box) and also my Fusion Beauty Brightening Primer (which is also purple) to get rid of this redness but also to moisturise my skin.

2. Rimmel London Match Perfection foundation in the shade 'Light Porcelain'
During the colder months, I always want to opt for a more glow-y look with my foundation. My Rimmel Match Perfection foundation is perfect for this sort of look as it's the perfect shade for me, is easy to blend out and doesn't cling to my drier spots.

3. Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in the shade 'Fair'
I don't think this product needs any explanation. Everyone knows how amazing this concealer is and it's the only concealer I ever use.

4. Rimmel London Stay Matte powder in the shade 'Transparent'
Again, I don't think this product needs an explanation. Although I have tried a NYX powder before, this Rimmel one is always my go-to powder as it really does what it says on the tin. However, because I want to maintain a dewy look in my autumn look, I have to remember to use a light hand with this product.

5. Benefit Hoola bronzer
I wrote a post back in July where I mentioned why I love my mini version of this bronzer, and I particularly think that it is the perfect bronzer for the darker months. This is because it is darker than some bronzers I usually go for (although still definitely wearable). I find that I need a darker bronzer during the winter months as otherwise I would feel washed out as I am pale and feel even more pale with the colder weather. Bronzer definitely adds a bit of warmth to your look.

6. BareMinerals Ready Blush in the shade 'The Whisper'
If you've been following my blog since the beginning, you will know that as soon as I received this blush, it became my all time favourite blush. I always thought that any blush that I had to use had to be a pink shade but oh how wrong I was. Since I discovered nude blushers, they have become my favourite. This blush is definitely perfect for autumn as it gives you lovely natural colour to your cheeks without making you look too... rosy, I suppose.

7. MUA Undress Your Skin highlighter in the shade 'Pink Shimmer'
This is one of the newest items in my collection (although I did buy it all the way back in August) and I will admit I don't use it much. But I've heard great things about it and it's so cheap which is why I bought it. I have used it a couple of times since I bought it and have decided it is definitely a highlighter I'm going to favour for an everyday look as it isn't as intense as some highlighters I own but just gives you the perfect natural glow.

8. CoastalScents Revealed Smoky Eyeshadow Palette
This is the part of my routine that may actually vary sometimes. I tend to use this palette all the time as I actually love it. I love to use this palette for the autumn as it features a lot of dark colours such as dark brown and burgundy - perfect colours for the autumn! It also has some great shimmer shades in it too.

9. Collection Supersize Fat Lash mascara
This is also a newer item in my collection like the highlighter and it has quickly become one of my favourite mascaras. If you want dramatic lashes with plenty of volume and curl then I wouldn't recommend this mascara but it's perfect mascara if you just want a natural look - which is obviously what I'm aiming for with this look. Plus it's really cheap too!

10. Freedom Duo Brow Powder in the shade 'Blonde'
Now we're onto the penultimate product in this look. This eyebrow powder isn't my favourite eyebrow product ever but it really does make your eyebrows look natural which is exactly the look I'm going for.

11. Coloured Raine liquid lipstick in the shade 'Mars'
The final item is definitely the item that completes the look. This liquid lipstick is my favourite autumn lip colour this year, as it is a lovely deep brown which I feel like definitely makes this look very autumnal (see my previous post about why I love this lipstick so much).

I would love it if you wanted to share your autumn looks with me!

I'll be back next week with another post for you all (get ready for everything Christmas themed).

Dark Lips: Only For Autumn or Perfect for the Whole Year?

Hello you beauties!

Everyone always seems to obsess over darker lips during the colder months which is completely understandable as it helps to represent the mood and I suppose the weather which is what some people do with their makeup looks. Hence why corals and pinks are popular in the summer and dark browns and purples are used a lot during the colder months.

I have been known to wear darker lip colours before, usually purples but within the past year (or just a bit later than that) I have also started to experiment more with darker browns, as usually with browns I stick to lighter nude browns.

Before I actually answer the question I asked in my title, I want to just discuss with you a few of my favourite darker lip colours. I'm sure that I've probably mentioned all these colours/lip products before in my posts, especially in a post last December where I wrote about my favourite winter lip colours of 2016.

My favourite darker lip colour of all time has always been the Topshop matte lipstick in the shade 'Beguiled'. It's not too drying which I sometimes find with matte lipsticks but that probably doesn't help that I have naturally dry lips. It's really pigmented too and such a bargain at just £8.

I've started to experiment with darker browns now which I was a bit nervous to do before as I never thought they would suit me. However, I have been loving the Coloured Raine liquid lipstick in the shade 'Mars' which is a lovely dark brown that I feel really does suit me well. It doesn't transfer or run even if you've been having a drink (as I've found out because I like to wear this lip colour on a night out) and isn't drying either.

If I feel like I want a pop of colour while still rocking a darker lip, I usually choose to use to use the NYX Intense Butter Gloss in the shade 'Spice Cake'. Surprisingly it is not a matte product this time, but I really do like the butter glosses from the NYX brand and these intense butter glosses are so much better than I could ever ask for! When it says 'intense' it really does mean intense. This is a very vivid colour but is still a perfect autumn colour.

But are these colours really only suitable for the latter half of the year? Of course not. I would wear these darker colours at any time of the year. I tend to match my lipstick to the outfit that I'm wearing rather than the time of year that we're at. So if I'm wearing a darker outfit, I will wear a dark lip with it, even if it's the middle of July.

I suppose I can argue that it's the same for lighter lip shades. These are definitely wearable during the winter months. You don't want to wear a darker lip with an outfit that needs a lighter lip just because it's November.

What's your opinion on the right time to wear darker lips? Do you agree that they can be worn throughout the whole year?

I'll be back next week with a new post for you all.

Why I Chose to Leave University

Hello you beauties!

I really hoped I would never have to write a post like this but I'm afraid that while you all probably thought I would be writing this post from my university flat in Brighton when in fact I am writing this from my bedroom in my family home in Nottingham.

Sometimes things that you dream will happen for a very long time don't always work out. For years, my dream was to study at the University of Brighton. And I managed to achieve that dream. When I realised I was going to be studying English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Brighton starting October 2017, I was extremely excited. It was all I had ever wanted and I finally got the chance to do this. I couldn't wait to move down there, many many miles away from my hometown of Nottingham, and start a new life there.

However, once I moved, it didn't take me long to realise that maybe I had made a mistake. Well, mistake probably isn't the right word to describe it but I definitely realised that Brighton was not the right place for me.

It just was not what I expected it to be. Before I moved to Brighton, I had visited just once - I spent a couple of days there visiting the university back in Brighton with my mum. I enjoyed my visit then as we spent one day exploring the shops to see what Brighton had to offer. We didn't walk along the seafront but I still enjoyed what I saw. Then the next day we went to the university for talks and to explore the university itself and I really liked the campus and the university course seemed interesting.

Reality is so much different. I lived in student accomodation at Varley Park, located on Coldean Lane. I didn't realise that this would literally be in the middle of nowhere. Don't get me wrong, I loved my flat - I had a decent sized room with an ensuite bathroom and a really modern kitchen and I got breakfast and dinner provided for me 5 days a week. But I felt like the public transport around there was very unreliable and it made me feel trapped. One day I waited over an hour and a half for a bus to go into Brighton city centre and then a bus still didn't arrive... so instead I got a taxi which cost over £20! Something I couldn't afford to do much.

My course also didn't turn out quite how I expected it to be. It was supposed to be joint honours but I really didn't feel like there was much Creative Writing to it which was the part I was looking forward to the most. The course was good but just not what I wanted to do - it was fun to read books and write essays about them but I couldn't see myself being able to build a career out of this degree. I wanted something specific to an English-related career but with an actual English Literature degree you could do whatever.

One of the main problems was how far Brighton was from Nottingham. I'm a naturally shy person so I thought that maybe moving so far away would help to get me out of my shell and become more independent. I didn't realise I would be so so wrong about it all. It took 2 trains, around 4 hours travel and set me back over £60 if I wanted to go home for a visit. So I didn't feel like I could go home for a visit, which made me miss my family even more than I already did.

So I began to feel homesick. And by homesick I mean extremely homesick. At first I knew it would be normal to be homesick so I just knew I had to deal with it and that it may get easier as time passes. It, however, got worse. Each day I would cry down the phone to my parents about how much I wanted to go home. I couldn't sleep. I lost my appetite. I didn't want to socialise. Unless I was at university doing lectures or seminars, I spent all my time in my room doing work or binge watching tv shows on Netflix. It was very lonely and made me hate being in Brighton.

I reached the 5th week of me living there and my homesickness was continually getting worse, to the point where I decided that the best choice for me would be to withdraw from my course and move back to Nottingham. It wasn't an easy decision to make as I didn't want to give up on university, I just knew it wouldn't be healthy for me to carry on how I was.

I don't think that Brighton is a horrible university. I really do wish that I could've made things work out for me in Brighton but, unfortunately, it just wasn't the place for me. I would recommend it as a university as the teaching is great and the staff were always so supportive. I just needed to do what was best for me.

So what now? Well, I am hoping to return to education next September. I'm hoping to submit my UCAS application soon and hope to be studying in London next year (I'm just so in love with London at the moment). This time I've applied to study Journalism which is something I was interested in before and I feel like this would be a better choice for me career wise as it's something I've always been an interest of mine. And I feel like London will be the perfect place for me to study this as there's so much going on and therefore so much more to write about.

In the meantime, I'm going to find a new job (as I quit my previous job so that I could move to Brighton) and work so much over the next 10 months. Obviously I'm going to keep myself busy during my 'gap year' as it's the perfect chance for me to get more work experience and to gain skills that could help me out if I do go back to university.

These next 10 months I also hope to volunteer for charities and fundraise for them - I'd love to do things that I would never usually do such as skydiving to raise money for a good cause and to also challenge myself more. I also plan to travel a bit during the summer with my boyfriend, so working a full time job will give me the perfect opportunity to save some money for this (and also save some money so that I don't have to work much during my time at university).

Leaving university last month wasn't the easiest decision I've ever made but, at this stage in my life, I feel like it is the best choice I could've made. I'm so excited to see what the future has in store for me.

Have any of you been in this situation before? I'd love to talk to someone else about it!

I'll be back next week with a new post for you all.

Colours and Styles I Like To Wear in the Autumn

Hello you beauties!

I'm bringing you a rare fashion post again today. As we're nearly in November and getting closer and closer to winter, I wanted to write a post about autumn style, and what I chose to wear to represent the season.

Obviously darker colours are the must-have choice for this autumn time. My favourites are usually black, blue, purple/burgundy and red. Especially burgundy with a matching vamp lip is perfect for this time of year as days get shorter and colder.

I personally feel like darker colours are perfect for the autumn time as they look warm. A cosy feel is just what we need as the temperature starts to drop. Paired with the perfect plaid scarf, you can make any item look perfect for this season.

My favourite colour to wear is definitely purple or a burgundy colour. A long sleeved t-shirt in that colour with black skinny jeans and boots, wrapped up in a cosy scarf and coat - that is always my go to autumn outfit.

Long sleeved t-shirts are definitely an item of clothing you should consider. Not only do they look great if worn properly and accessoried correctly, they're also really practical as it means in the warmer parts of the autumn months it means you only have to wear one layer under your coat.

You can never fail with a cardigan in these colder months. They're soft, warm and easy to throw on with any outfit. You can get so many different patterns for them too, or just keep them plain. Whatever is best for you.

I know this wasn't the most interesting and longest post I've ever written, but I thought it may be useful or at least informative about my life and personal preferences.

What colours and outfits do you like to wear during autumn?

I'll be back next week with a new post for you all.

Lust List Autumn 2017

Hello you beauties!

It has been over 6 months since I wrote a beauty 'lust list'. 6 months is such a long time, and in that time so much has changed in that time. So much. And one part of the change is definitely beauty items I want to buy. With so much new makeup constantly being released, my list grows longer and longer by the day.

1. A Morphe eyeshadow palette
I've always wanted a Morphe eyeshadow palette as I've heard how amazing they are - I've heard that they're so, so pigmented and blend easily. They seem to be really affordable too and the only reason I haven't yet bought one is because I own a lot of eyeshadow palettes at the moment and want to get them used before I buy any more. Also I would find it so difficult to choose just one to buy as all of them have such amazing shade ranges in them!

2. Nip+Fab foundation
I have heard great things about this foundation and while I have already found some decent foundations that I feel work enough for me, I have yet to find the perfect foundation. One day I hope to try this foundation in case it's the right one for me.

3. A fan brush
Although this isn't a product from a specific brand, I am in desperate need of a decent fan brush for my highlighter. At the moment I use the setting brush from Real Techniques to apply my highlighter but I know many people use fan brushes so I want to try one and see if it makes any difference to my look.

4. Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Lip Kits
I own so many lip products already that I probably don't need anymore but I am currently lusting over the Makeup Revolution Lip Kits! I have seen Sophdoesnails using these in her videos before and have seen them in Superdrug stores - they seem amazing and I am desperate to try them. They seem to have such a great range of shades and finishes too, while being such an affordable price. I'll definitely have to try at least on shade of these out soon.

So these are just a few things I have been tempted to buy recently and hopefully one day I will own them. Is there anything you've been lusting over?

I'll be back next week with another post for you all.

Feminist Poem

Hello you beauties!

Today, again, is a non-beauty post because I have been doing some more writing for my university course and so I wanted to share it with you all again.

This is a poem inspired by feminism. My seminar leader told us to use the word feminism as inspiration then asked us to spend 5 minutes doing some free-writing, writing down whatever we thought of when we think about 'feminism'. Then from this free-writing we did, we then had to create a poem from it.

While my poem is actually inspired by feminism, I suppose you could argue that it is actually an anti-feminism poem. While doing my free-writing, all I could think about was a conversation I once had with my boyfriend. We were talking about how, in the modern day, if something were to go wrong in our relationship, he would automatically be blamed just because he is male. That made me think about how, even though feminism can be empowering if used properly, SOME people take it too far and use it as an excuse to physically, verbally and emotionally attack males, which isn't fair.

So here is my poem:

Objectified, by the women -
Beaten down day by day
They scream, scream loud
In the ear of society; listing
The patriarchy's faults one by one
While beating man to a pulp;
Chasing him like ravenous hounds
Just to force the high heel
Deep in his throat.

I hope you all enjoyed my poem and I would love it if you wanted to give me feedback so I can grow as a writer.

I'll be back next week with another post for you all.

3 Ways I Apply My Foundation

Hello you beauties!

I hope you enjoyed my creative writing post last week. My course started officially 2 days ago so I'm sure as time goes on I will have a lot more creative pieces to share with you all.

Today I wanted to discuss with you the different ways that I apply my foundation and which way I find works best for me.

The first way I apply my foundation is obviously with brushes. In a previous post last year, I wrote about my makeup brush collection and so you all know that most of my brushes are Real Techniques brushes. Back when I wrote that collection post, I had only a few makeup brushes but now I have quite a few more which means I have managed to experiment with different brushes to see which I prefer when applying my foundation.

One of my favourites has to be the Real Techniques Buffing Brush (which I bought in their Core Collection set) as it is not too big but the perfect size to cover a larger area - you don't find yourself taking a long time to apply your foundation as you're not using a small brush. It's also got extremely soft bristles meaning it doesn't hurt and doesn't leave streaks in your foundation as you apply it.

I also like the Expert Face Brush from Real Techniques too. It's almost the same as the Buffing Brush but just a little bit smaller. It makes it easier to get into the tighter spots, such as just around the nose. It does take a bit longer with this brush than the other one though, so I would recommend using them both rather than just one or the other.

Another way I apply my foundation is with sponges. I know that recently these have become a more popular way to apply foundation rather than brushes as they leave a more natural feel to it. I know you're supposed to use these sponges damp but there are times, depending on what coverage I want, that I decide to use them dry. When used dry, I find they offer more coverage whereas used damp I find that it makes your foundation look more natural and feel lighter.

There are two sponges I used. One is from EmaxDesigns in a set I received last Christmas, which is the same shape as the original Beauty Blender. I find this one is best if used dry and really does apply your foundation well and doesn't absorb the foundation into the sponge much.

The second sponge is one that I cannot remember the brand of but is shaped much like the Real Techniques sponges and is also orange (before you say anything, yes I'm 100% certain that it isn't a Real Techniques sponge). This one is great wet or dry, and I love the feeling it gives with my foundation when I do use it damp. It really does give a flawless finish and because each part is a different shape, it is great for any part of your face.

The final way I sometimes apply my foundation is with a silicone sponge, which I know have now become more popular. These are popular as the design and material are supposed to make it so that you do not waste any product, meaning you have to use less foundation and so your foundation (which is even more great if it's an expensive foundation) lasts even longer and means you don't have to repurchase it as often as you did before. Also, these sponges are supposed to mean more coverage from your foundation too. I don't own an expensive one, just one that I bought from Makeup Revolution.

Out of the 3 ways, I would have to say that sponges are my personal favourite. Just the way they can offer so much from just one product and there are so many out there to chose from. I particularly love the natural look they can help me to create.

Honestly, my least favourite of the 3 has to be the silicone sponge. It may be because the one I own is quite cheap and so probably isn't the best to represent the product as a whole, but I just didn't find it as impressive as the other ways of applying foundation. I found it so difficult to apply my foundation using on of these sponges with making it look like I was wearing a mask, as especially round my neck it was very hard to blend and is also not easy to use on and around your nose. I ended up having to go over my foundation again with a normal sponge, so I feel I may as well have just used that in the first place.

What do you prefer to use to apply your foundation? Any brands/products that you would recommend?

I'll be back next week with a new post for you all.

Docu-Poem

Hello you beauties!

I now officially live in Brighton! I've been here since Saturday (23rd) and if I'm honest, I've not found it easy to settle in here and I still feel quite homesick, but I'm just trying to get stuck in with university work (which will be easier next week when my course actually starts).

Today's post is different to usual. As I am studying an English Literature and Creative Writing course at the University of Brighton, I thought it would be a good idea to share with you some of the creative writing I produce occassionally on this blog.

This piece of creative writing I want to share with you was written collaboratively - I wrote this alongside two other people on my course called Lauren McDonald and Stanley Westbrook (needed to give them credit too). We were given two pages of script about the London Riots of 2011. We had to write a poem using only the words on the extract that told an accurate story of the events.

Here it is:

Huge Blaze they were coughing
This huge blaze
Building a trophy fire
Fuel this smiling lad
The wind’s taking up an immense flame
“it was supposed to be us”
Euphoria up in flames
Rioting a-alight restrain him
(breathe)

(Breathe) ‘It weren’t supposed to be like this’
Ash raining down, an immense, flame, children there.
‘It weren’t supposed to be like this?’
Coughing, they couldn’t get out, throwing tires into
The fires to make it fuel even more.
‘It was supposed to be us and the police and the government’
But this is not Aldis, this is not McDonalds, this is not JD Sports.
(Exhales)

Huge Blaze! Immense Flame
Ash being blown; raining down
Cover our mouths; They’re ash clouds
Throwing tyres in the fire
The shop was ablaze

On Tottenham Road.

I can't wait to share some more of my creative writing with you in the future!

I'll be back next week with another post for you all.

Why Do I Blog?

Hello you beauties!

I have been blogging now for almost a year and a half and one question I don't usually ask myself is this; why do I actually blog? Now that I've actually asked myself that question, I've realised how important it is to actually consider the reasons why I do blog and I wanted to share these with you.

I do not (and have never) expect global fame from this blog. That would be selfish for me to want that. Okay yes, it would be nice to be recognised for my work as every writer wants but I actually want to work for it and know that people genuinely enjoy reading my articles. Of course I want my work to be appreciated by the public because it does take time to write these posts for you all but at the end of the day I genuinely just enjoy writing and will continue with this blog even if it turns out no one is actually reading it.

I have enjoyed writing for as long as I can remember, but most of this time I have written short stories, or poems, or attempted to write novels. Once I discovered my love for makeup and decided that journalism is a career I would want to pursue, I decided to create this blog to share my passion whilst gaining some experience that I hope will help me in the future.

Journalism definitely is a fascinating career in my eyes and I know it is something that I would enjoy. It's not just writing news reports for the BBC, although that could be an interesting role to take on. With the influence of the internet growing stronger and stronger, I wanted to experiment with blogging first and hopefully learn more about journalism in the future with my university course.

Just writing about something I am passionate about makes blogging fun for me, and it gives me something to focus on. Something to be proud of. Shouldn't we all be proud of the things we manage to produce? If I had no goals in my life, then what's the point? This blog allows me to develop as a writer, to consolidate my writing style.

Do you run a blog? Why do you blog?

I'll be back next week (from Brighton!) with a new post for you all.

Getting a Tattoo: My Experience

Hello you beauties!

I honestly never thought I would be writing a post like this as I really never thought I would end up getting a tattoo. Don't get me wrong, I have always wanted one but I have a major fear of needles so I knew I would never be able to deal with one. Oh how wrong I was!

It was my 20th birthday on Saturday and my parents didn't know what to get for me. I mentioned to my mum a few weeks before that I was interested in getting a tattoo and so my parents gave me money to put towards a tattoo and so I booked my appointment for the 9th September - the day of my actual birthday.

I was terrified, if I'm completely honest. As I've said before, I have a major fear of needles and I was worried that this would all end badly. But the design I chose to have tattooed on me meant too much for me to give up on it.

That's because I chose to have purple tulips tattooed on my left forearm, in memory of my grandfather who died back in May 2009. Tulips were his favourite flower and became my favourite flower once he died because they reminded me of him and every great memory of him that I had. So I wanted something permanent to show my love for him, and so that he could be with me wherever I went. So despite the fact that I was terrified of needles, I knew I had to do it.

The pain was unbearable at points and I even had to ask for a break half way through because I felt like I was going to pass out from the pain. But once the tattooist had opened a window, put a fan on and given me a drink of sugared water, I felt much better and ready to carry on. It helped that after the break I chose to look away from the needle as my design was being etched into my skin, as before I was watching it.

Parts of it were more painful than others, especially the white highlights and as the design reached further to my wrist. But after around an hour, it was all over and I now had such a beautiful design with an amazing background on my arm.

I don't regret my tattoo at all but will probably never get another one, as I doubt I could handle that pain again. I would also only recommend a tattoo if you can handle pain well which I know plenty of people can - but I definitely can't.

I might change my mind about this in the future, as my boyfriend's mum has many tattoos and told me that once you get one, you get 'the itch' where you just want more and more and more. But for now, I am pretty content with just the one.

Do you have any tattoos or planning/hoping to get one? What design would you like?

I'll be back next week with a new post for you all.

20 Questions About Makeup

Hello you beauties!

Even though this is supposed to primarily be a beauty blog but I do realise that recently I have been writing about everything but makeup. That's mainly because recently I have not really been wearing much makeup so I've not really felt like I can talk about makeup. So today I have decided to answer 20 questions I have seen around the internet to really get me thinking about makeup, why I like it and what's important to me. And I wanted to share it with you.

1. Do you remember your first makeup item?
I can't remember the exact first item but I can remember a couple of things. I remember when I was around 12 my mum took me out shopping for makeup for the first time, for my birthday. Obviously I was young and my mum always encouraged me to be confident and comfortable with who I am so she didn't really encourage the use of makeup. So the first items of makeup I can remember buying/owning is a brown mascara from Asda, a nude lipstick from Miss Sporty and a nude lipstick from NYC.

2. Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found 'The One'?
I don't think I've found 'The One' yet but I've definitely found some mascaras I am very impressed with. I want a mascara that will curl my lashes and add volume (not too much but enough for them to give life to my eyes). The mascara that I have found that does the best job for this is definitely the Maybelline 'The Colossal' mascara.

3. What coverage do you like in a foundation?
Although ideally everyone would love a full coverage, I personally feel like I would prefer a medium coverage. Something to cover up my imperfections but not something that will literally create a mask. The best one I have found so far for this is the L'Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Matte Foundation.

4. What's your favourite high end brand?
There are many high end brands that I like, but I'd probably say BareMinerals. I usually only buy my high end products from T K Maxx as it's the only way I can really afford it, and the BareMinerals items I have bought from there (which is quite a few) have never disappointed me.

5. What cosmetics brand are you desperate to try but haven't yet?
Definitely Morphe. I've always wanted to own one of their amazing eyeshadow palettes. I'm currently trying to use up some of my other eyeshadows first before I can justify buying one of the Morphe palettes.

6. Favourite drugstore brand?
I am obsessed with Makeup Revolution. Most of the items in my collection are actually from Makeup Revolution and some of the first makeup items I actually owned in my current selection were Makeup Revolution. Why not!? It's such an affordable brand!

7. Do you wear fake eyelashes?
No I don't actually. But I've always wanted to try them and see if they'd make any difference to my look. I just don't feel like I would have the patience for them!

8. What is your most cherished beauty product?
Probably my Stila eyeshadow palette. I worked in a pub for about a week and saved up all my tips specifically so I could buy this palette so I honestly believe it is the product I should treasure the most.

9. How often do you buy a makeup product?
Not a lot anymore but I think it got to the point where I was buying a new thing every time I was going anywhere near a shop, which could be every week, sometimes twice a week. It was obsessive, and I now own so much makeup that I don't know what to do with it all. I actually had to get my boyfriend to ban me from buying makeup because I was buying so much of it.

10. Do you have a monthly beauty budget or spend freely?
I don't have a budget but I won't let myself spend too much. If I feel like I'm starting to spend too much, I'll just stop myself from buying anything new.

11. Do you utalise coupons, reward cards and sales for your beauty products?
Of course! Reward cards are my favourites. In fact, my purse is just filled with them. But I don't see why you wouldn't want to use them. It's free to sign up to them and you can get so many free things with them.

12. Which beauty product do you buy the most of?
Definitely lipsticks! I'm obsessed with them and love exploring different shades that I could possibly use. I am particularly fascinated by the range of lip products from the NYX brand.

13. Is there a brand that you really don't like?
Not really, as there are items from most brands that I like but also items from those same brands that I don't like.

14. Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulphates?
No I don't but I usually avoid makeup from places such as pound shops because I find that they usually cause a break out on my skin.

15. Do you have a favourite place to shop for makeup?
For drugstore makeup I prefer to shop at Superdrug and for high end makeup I tend to go to T K Maxx.

16. Do you like trying new skincare products or sticking to a routine?
If I'm completely honest, I'm quite naughty when it comes to skincare and tend to neglect it. But when it comes to face wash and moisturiser I tend to stick to the same thing every time as I know what works for me and what doesn't.

17. What's your favourite Bath&Body brand?
Definitely Treaclemoon. I religiously buy my body washes from their brand.

18. If you could only buy from one brand, who would you pick?
Makeup Revolution 100%. It's a great price and I know it works for me. Plus most of my makeup collection is Makeup Revolution at the moment anyway.

19. What do you love about makeup?
The fact that it allows me to experiment and be crazy while learning to love myself for who I am. And for me to be able to share my love of makeup with many people around the world.

20. Is there any makeup you can't leave the house without wearing?
Surprisingly not as I have been going out of the house without wearing makeup for a while recently.

Why don't you think about these questions with regards to yourself and let me know what your responses would be?

I'll be back next week with a new post for you all.

My 3 Favourite Bronzers

Hello you beauties!

It has been a while since I uploaded a beauty post and because it is my last post of August 2017, I thought it was only right to bring a beauty post to you about possibly the most important makeup item of summer - bronzers!

Everyone wants that golden, tan-like glow during the summer to make them look healthy and not seem too washed out in the sun. Other than using fake tan, I believe that bronzer is the best way to do this!

Now, if you've been reading my blog for a while now (and if you have then thank you) you will know that I've always struggled to find a bronzer that I love, but I have managed to find 3 that work just fine for me.

The one I use the most is definitely the Hoola bronzer by Benefit. I own the mini version but I feel like this is great value for money, at just £10.50. It's extremely pigmented which means you only have to use a little bit so even the mini one lasts ages. It's really easy to blend out too so if you do feel like you've applied a little bit too much, it's easily fixed. Even though they do have the Lite version for people with paler skin (like me), I feel like the original version is fine for paler people as long as you use a light hand and know how to blend well.

Another bronzer that I like to use is the Bourjois chocolate bronzer. This one is a lot lighter than the Hoola bronzer so is perfect for people who don't want much bronzer (just a natural glow) or for people with paler skin. This is slightly cheaper than the Hoola bronzer too, at just £7.99 so it's a great drugstore purchase. And it smells like chocolate too, which is a bonus.

The final bronzer that I like to use is the Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer in the shade 'Golden Days'. It's not the best out of the 3, but for just £4 it definitely worth the money. It's very pigmented for the price and is easy to use. The only problem I've ever had with it is that sometimes it can go orange. But other than that I really do like this bronzer.

What bronzers do you like to use? What would you recommend I try next?

I'll be back next week with another post for you all.

I'm Off To University!

Hello you beauties!

I can't believe we're over half way through August already! Not long now until everyone is off back to school. On that subject, I have some great news. I am off to university!

Last Thursday in England was A Level results day and I was so nervous for so long beforehand. I have had difficulty with my A Levels in the past and was really hoping that on the 17th August I could wake up finally knowing I didn't have to carry on with them after 3 years and that I could finally move on with my life.

I had dreams of attending university for as long as I can remember. I like to aim high in life and I knew from the beginning that university would be the right choice for me. However the hard part was deciding which degree to do.

For a very long time, I've always wanted to be a nurse or physiotherapist, intent on helping people in pain, helping them feel better. So I decided to study Biology in my first year of my A Levels. Big mistake. It made me realise just how much I struggled with science. And how much I loved English.

So in my second and third year of A Levels, I decided to focus on English. And I loved every minute of it. I had finally found what I loved. And I knew this is what I wanted to study at university.

I applied to study English Literature or English Literature and Creative Writing at 5 different universities; York, Nottingham, East Anglia, Chester and Brighton. I received offers from all 5 of them, although 2 universities gave me offers to study a different subject from what I originally applied for (although still English related).

By Christmas 2016 I had received all of my offers and so in January I made my choice - Brighton as my firm choice (asking for CCC or 96 UCAS points) and Chester as my insurance choice (asking for BCC). I was so excited but also so nervous, worried that I would not get the results I needed.

I spent months and months studying hard so that I could follow my dreams and finally, last Thursday, I was going to find out my fate. I was so relieved and happy to find out that I had been accepted to study English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Brighton. I got to do exactly what I wanted to do; finally!

Yes, I'm terrified but I'm also really excited. I've never been away from my parents properly so it'll be strange having to get used to not seeing them every day but I'm sure I'll be fine with it soon enough. And not getting to see my boyfriend much... yes I'm worried about the long distance but he is studying in London so we can both easily travel to the others flat and visit each other regularly.

I can't wait to start my new adventure.

I'll be back next week with another post for you all.

Travel Goals for the Future

Hello you beauties!

This summer I haven't really done much travelling - not because I haven't had the opportunity (I could've gone to Paris with my boyfriend a couple of months ago if I had a passport), but because I've had a lot of other things to focus on this summer, such as preparing for university (I will find out my fate tomorrow). However, within the next year I am hoping to save up a lot of money and hope to travel next summer with my boyfriend, so I wanted to share with you some of the places I hope to have travelled to not necessarily next year but at least within the next 10 years or so.

1. Amsterdam, the Netherlands
I'm sure I'm not the only person who dreams of visiting Amsterdam. Amsterdam is definitely the one place I want to visit the most. I would love to visit the Anne Frank House, explore the art galleries and go for a bike ride around the city.

2. Paris, France
This one was probably very obvious, but I would love to visit the City of Love! There seem to be many amazing places to visit here and I would love to spend all day walking around, seeing every sight I can. Being able to explore this city with my boyfriend would make everything so perfect too.

3. New York, USA
I have always loved the big cities and where better to explore than New York? I would love to visit the big main sites such as the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building, as well as experiencing the food culture found in the Big Apple.

4. South Africa
Anyone who knows me well will know just how much I love South Africa. I am fascinated by the history and culture of this amazing country and would love to explore and experience this for myself. I would also love to see the amazing wildlife/nature of this beautiful place.

5. Rome, Italy
Yes, again it is a major city in a really well-known country but I just know I would fall in love with Rome as soon as I set foot there. The architecture of Rome is what fascinates me before, with its influence from the Romans (who played such a major part in British history too). I would love to go fashion shopping in Rome too - the amount of stores I can explore seems overwhelming and I know this could easily take up a whole day of my visit if I wanted it to. And the food... oh who doesn't love Italian food!?

Obviously there are many other places I hope to visit in the future, such as Greece and Belgium, but this is just a small list of the places I want to visit the most.

Where are the places you would like to visit?

I'll be back next week with another post for you all.

P.S. Good luck to anyone getting their A Level results tomorrow!

CC/BB Creams vs Foundations: Summer

Hello you beauties!

Even though I live in England and everyone knows that the weather isn't always the best, but there are times where it is warmer than usual. Sometimes I feel like foundations are too heavy for the warmer weather. So what should I do instead?

I've found that CC or BB creams are a better option for those warmer days. Whenever I wear foundation during the warmer hours, I often feel like my face is melting off and my foundation begins to irritate my skin and feel sticky. So I want something lighter for my skin that still offers coverage. And CC and BB creams definitely do that - although they don't offer as much coverage as foundations but they offer enough for it to still feel comfortable.

Admittedly I don't actually own that many CC and BB creams as when I find ones I like, I prefer to just stick to those as I use foundations for most of the year and don't want to spend a lot of money on products I do not use much.

My favourite CC cream is definitely the Max Factor CC Cream. It offers a great coverage and you can barely feel it on your skin, meaning it is perfect for when the weather is warmer. However, there are not many shades in the range - I think I only found 3, those being 'fair', 'medium' and 'dark'. I am a considerably pale person so I thought that the 'fair' shade would be the best for me but it is actually slightly too light for me and if I'm not careful then I feel like it washes me out. I have found though that if you use a bit of bronzer with this shade (unless of course you are an extremely pale person) then it's not too bad. The bonus is that it is actually quite moisturising and doesn't cling to the dry patches around my nose, which I love because I suffer from dry skin so I struggle to find foundations and creams that don't cling.

The only problem with this CC cream is the fact that I don't think it's that available in drug stores anymore. I know it is a product that was brought out a few years ago and the only place I have ever seen this is a B&M store (which is where I bought my bottle of it) and I think it is also available on the amazon website. If you do manage to get a one though they are a reasonable price - I'm pretty sure I bought mine for less than £5, which is definitely a great price as it lasts for a long time.

My favourite BB cream is the Garnier BB cream (or also known as a tinted moisturiser). This offers slightly less coverage than the Max Factor CC cream as it instead gives a more natural glow with a bit of extra colour to your skin. This is a product I would definitely recommend for those extremely hot days or those days where you're feeling confident about your skin.

Again, this cream only has a few shades (the same as the Max Factor cream) but because these are more of a tinted moisturiser it means that one shade can be suitable for a range of skin tones, at least in similar spectrums.

In contrast to the Max Factor CC cream, this BB cream is much more available in the drugstores - I bought mine from Tesco for around £5 but I know you can also buy it for around the same price at many other places such as Boots and Superdrug.

If I can, I will always use foundations as I do not like my skin and believe that foundations offer a much better coverage, but I will still use BB and CC creams where necessary.

Are there any BB and CC creams that you use and would recommend to other people? Let me know in the comments!

I'll be back next week with another post for you all.
Byeeee!
