What Colours I Do and Don't Wear

Hello you beauties!

It's not very often that I actually write fashion posts as for some reason I tend to focus more on beauty, so I'm trying now to bring more fashion related posts to you all.

Today I want to discuss colour, and what colours I like to wear and what I usually avoid. Everyone always talks about what colours suit certain people and what colours they should avoid, and I always believe it depends on your eye colour, hair colour, skin tone, etc... I don't know if you all believe that too but that's my opinion on it.

Colours I usually tend to avoid are green and yellow. I just don't believe that they are very flattering colours on me. I have blue eyes so I feel like if I ever wear green then it clashes too much and just doesn't look right.

Also, I'm a very pale person so I feel that whenever I wear yellow, especially a light yellow, then it washes me out. Which of course is never very flattering - who wants to look paler than they are!?

However, there are many colours that I love to wear and feel very comfortable and confident wearing. My favourite colour to wear is definitely purple, but that is probably more due to the fact that it is my overall favourite colour and not the fact that it actually looks good on me.

One colour that I especially love wearing is red, because with my blue eyes I just feel like it is very complimentary and also makes me feel confident and empowered.

I also love wearing blue, especially a dark blue because I believe that blue (just like black) is a colour that anyone can wear and not have to worry about. It works with anything but can still brighten up an outfit if you don't want to wear black, or want to wear a black top but do not want a whole black outfit.

What colours do you like/dislike wearing?

I'll be back next week with a new post for you all.

Why I Still Shop at Primark...

Hello you beauties!

I'm aware this may be a controversial subject as I know many people don't like Primark - whether that be because they disagree with the use of the sweatshops or because there is the stigma that Primark clothes are 'chavvy'. But I, like many other people, do still choose to shop at Primark and I do not hide where I get my clothes from. Why should I be ashamed?

It's true, most of my clothes are probably from Primark (or from supermarkets) and when people ask me where I got a t-shirt or a dress from, for example, I do not lie and tell them it is from somewhere considered more appropriate and expensive. I will openly inform people that my clothes are from Primark, and probably did only cost £3.

I am not ashamed. I'm only 19 and don't earn a lot of money. I work usually between 12 and 16 hours a week (sometimes can be less) at just over £6 an hour. I could afford a pair of Topshop jeans, but then it'd probably leave me with very little money left over for the rest of my pay period.

Primark clothes are great for the price. I've found many great items of clothing in there, each usually less than £10 each. And they last me for a very long time. I hardly have to spend any money on clothes which means I can spend that extra money on other things, like spending time with my boyfriend and my family.

Now in no way am saying anything bad about anyone who does like to spend a lot of money on their clothes, or dislikes Primark at all. You all have your own opinions. But I wanted to share mine.

Where do you like to shop for your clothes?

I'll be back next week with a new post for you all.

Makeup: Minis vs Full Size

Hello you beauties!

I'm back with another makeup post for you all today and this time I have decided to discuss mini versions of full sized makeup items and why they can be beneficial.

Everyone always wants the full sized item of popular makeup items but often these can be very expensive and therefore a waste of money if you decide you don't like it. That's why I find the mini versions of products to be better value for money sometimes.

Yes, you still have to buy them and you might still consider it a waste of money if you don't like it, but wouldn't you rather waste £10 rather than £30 for example? If you decide you like the product after trying out the miniature version, you can then go and buy the more expensive full sized product and know that you will use it all not waste your well-earned money.

One brand that I personally believe is great for their mini versions of their products is Benefit and I own a few myself. I believe they're great value for money. I was lucky enough to be given a special offer where I bought 3 of the mini products for just £15 (Usually 3 for £25) in Boots when individually these minis cost over £10 each.

This offer has helped me to discover some of the best makeup products I have ever used and didn't break my bank! Benefit offers most of their products, especially the most popular ones, as mini products and I decided to buy the Rollerlash Mascara, Porefessional Primer and Hoola Bronzer.

The Rollerlash Mascara mini really is tiny but it is such a good mascara! Not the best mascara I have ever used (I definitely prefer Maybelline mascaras still) and I probably wouldn't buy the full sized item at £20.50 as I have many mascaras that I like more that are also a lot cheaper but I am glad to have been able to try this mascara as it definitely would be worth the money.

The Porefessional Primer definitely has become my favourite primer of all time now and the only reason I haven't yet bought the full sized item is because I still have primers I got in beauty boxes that are quite good and I want to use before I buy any more. Once I do run out of my primers though, my go to one will definitely be the Porefessional one because, even though it is pricey at £26, it does it's job so why not pay extra and know you're getting your monies worth?

The best purchase I made with this offer though was definitely the Hoola bronzer. The girl at the counter actually recommended this to me, saying that all you need is the mini version as it lasts ages. Now I don't usually use bronzers because most that I have found always become too orange when I use them or are too dark or too light for my skin. But this bronzer is honestly the best I've ever found and the girl definitely wasn't wrong. As it is more expensive than most bronzers, it is a lot more pigmented and so you only have to use the tiniest amount meaning the product lasts for so long! If I ever find that I run out of this mini bronzer, I will definitely buy the full size one (priced at £24.50) because I honestly think it'll be the only bronzer I ever have to buy again!

I do own a few mini versions of their newest brow products but I have not actually tried these because I got them either free in a magazine or in a beauty box and they're all actually too dark for me!

But I am very impressed with Benefit as a brand so I will definitely try the mini versions of anything they produce if I ever get the chance to.

Are there any mini products that you've tried and loved and think are worth the money? Then let me know as I'd love to try out your recommendations!

I'll be back next week with another post for you all.

Eyebrows; The 3 P's

Hello you beauties!

The part of my makeup routine that I struggle with the most is definitely my eyebrows. I don't know a single makeup user who doesn't complain about their eyebrows at some point. I feel like they're such a crucial part of any look. Which is why it's so hard to make them perfect.

I personally have always found it a struggle to find the right eyebrow product. I've tried out everything but can never decide what is right for me. Especially shade wise. While I'm a natural blonde, my eyebrows have always been darker than my natural hair colour. So blonde products are always too light for my brows but light brown products are unfortunately too dark. I'm yet to find anything that is the perfect shade for me.

But when it comes to eyebrow products, I make sure to try the 3 P's; Powders, Pomades and Pencils.

When it comes to powders, these are probably the ones I use the least. Don't get me wrong, powder makeup products are definitely the easiest to use (such as highlighters and blushes, as opposed to using the cream version of them) but when it comes to my brows I find that it is extremely difficult to find a blonde powder that doesn't turn orange. I tried out the light brown version of the Maybelline Master Brow Pro Palette and while this probably gives the best pigmentation of any powder I have ever used, it was slightly too dark for me. But did they offer a blonde version? Of course not.

Another powder eyebrow product I have tried is the Freedom Duo Eyebrow Powder in the shade 'Blonde' and while this is definitely a blonde colour, I find that both shades in this are slightly orange-y and therefore don't quite look right when applying them. And for anything to show up I find that I actually have to apply quite a bit of the product first. While it's not the worst eyebrow powder ever, I bet there are even better powders for around the same price.

I tend to use powders when I want a subtle eyebrow look.

Pomades are the products I have used the least. I only actually own 1 pomade and that is again by Freedom (as unfortunately I cannot afford the Anastasia one). Again, it's in the shade 'Blonde' but I have the opposite problem with this as I did with the powder by them. While the powder was probably too light, the pomade is (I'd say anyway) too dark for me. It gives my brows a very heavy look and makes them look sticky. It's reasonably easy to use you just need to make sure to have a very light hand and a very good eyebrow brush!

I usually use the pomade when I want a more dramatic look/want to stand out more.

The final P in this post is pencils. I used to only ever use pencils but once I started to experiment with powders and pomades, I just seemed to forget about the pencils I owned. But that's because, at first, I simply couldn't find anything that was any good! I would use the Rimmel eyebrow pencils all the time but they only had 3 shades; Hazel, Dark Brown and Black. So I'd use the Hazel shade as it was the lightest but it was definitely too dark for me. Obviously I didn't notice that at first, wore my brows with that shade and looked stupid but let's try and forget that dark time of my life.

My relationship with pencils changed when I found out about the Soap and Glory Archery brow pencil and tint, which is more of a crayon rather than a pencil. I found this pencil to be amazing as it allowed me to get really defined lines when shaping my brows and the tint is great to fill in the gaps in my brows - using the actual pencil part to do this definitely makes the brows too bold! For just £10 this is 100% a pencil I would recommend.

While pomades have proven to give the most pigmentation and this is usually what someone looks for in a product, I would definitely suggest you use the Soap and Glory Archery brow pencil and tint above anything else as it is easy to use and easy to travel with (as you don't need to worry about packing a brush for it - so if you forget an eyebrow brush it doesn't matter). It's reasonably cheap too and still gives off amazing pigmentation. Oh, and the shade matches better too (although they only have 3 shades - blonde, brown and black)!

I hope you all liked this post! If you did, be sure to subscribe/follow, comment and share with friends.
