Hello you beauties!

I can't believe we're over half way through August already! Not long now until everyone is off back to school. On that subject, I have some great news. I am off to university!

Last Thursday in England was A Level results day and I was so nervous for so long beforehand. I have had difficulty with my A Levels in the past and was really hoping that on the 17th August I could wake up finally knowing I didn't have to carry on with them after 3 years and that I could finally move on with my life.

I had dreams of attending university for as long as I can remember. I like to aim high in life and I knew from the beginning that university would be the right choice for me. However the hard part was deciding which degree to do.

For a very long time, I've always wanted to be a nurse or physiotherapist, intent on helping people in pain, helping them feel better. So I decided to study Biology in my first year of my A Levels. Big mistake. It made me realise just how much I struggled with science. And how much I loved English.

So in my second and third year of A Levels, I decided to focus on English. And I loved every minute of it. I had finally found what I loved. And I knew this is what I wanted to study at university.

I applied to study English Literature or English Literature and Creative Writing at 5 different universities; York, Nottingham, East Anglia, Chester and Brighton. I received offers from all 5 of them, although 2 universities gave me offers to study a different subject from what I originally applied for (although still English related).

By Christmas 2016 I had received all of my offers and so in January I made my choice - Brighton as my firm choice (asking for CCC or 96 UCAS points) and Chester as my insurance choice (asking for BCC). I was so excited but also so nervous, worried that I would not get the results I needed.

I spent months and months studying hard so that I could follow my dreams and finally, last Thursday, I was going to find out my fate. I was so relieved and happy to find out that I had been accepted to study English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Brighton. I got to do exactly what I wanted to do; finally!

Yes, I'm terrified but I'm also really excited. I've never been away from my parents properly so it'll be strange having to get used to not seeing them every day but I'm sure I'll be fine with it soon enough. And not getting to see my boyfriend much... yes I'm worried about the long distance but he is studying in London so we can both easily travel to the others flat and visit each other regularly.

I can't wait to start my new adventure.

Hello you beauties!

I know this isn't a beauty post but I honestly feel like it is important to include a post regarding this, because a lot of you like me will probably be heading off to university this September. And sometimes the hardest decision to make is; how far away are you willing to move?

I found this to be a major problem when trying to decide which university to choose. I live in Nottingham and applied for 5 universities; Nottingham, York, Chester, East Anglia and Brighton. Basically a spread around the whole country. And then I got all of my offers back, all with decent grades. So I had to then choose if I wanted to stay at home or move over 100 miles away. So what I decided to do was make a pros and cons list of moving away, and deciding if the cons were worth dealing with. And I'm going to share with you this list today.

Pros:
1. Independence
Moving away from home forces you to be more independent, as family will not be quite as close anymore. But sometimes this independence can really be a good thing for you as it helps you to discover who you are as a person and can help make you a really mature adult.

2. A fresh start
Sometimes people aren't always happy with their life where they currently live (I know I'm definitely not) and so moving away is a great chance for a fresh start - to create a new life for yourself.

3. New experiences
You'll get to do so many things you'd never imagined doing before and get to explore some really great cities. You can make so many great friends too to share all of these experiences with.

4. Chance to make new friends
As I explained in my previous point, moving away is a great chance to make new friends. You'll get to meet people from all parts of the country and will be in the same boat as them so will have a lot in common with them. You'll probably find that you'll become friends with people that you may have never spoken to if you hadn't met them at university.


Cons: 
1. You'll be away from your friends and family
Moving away from the people you love most is obviously going to be very scary, especially as they won't necessarily be close enough to still see them quite a bit.

2. It will cost more
Of course, if you stay at home then you won't have to pay so much for your accommodation, but also some cities will be more expensive to live in than your home town, such as London and Brighton. Which isn't necessarily a great idea if you know you'll struggle with money.

3. Having to look after yourself
There may be so many skills that you'll need for university life, such as cooking (which I am hopeless at) which you may not feel like you have. You may not feel ready to look after yourself, without the support of your parents.


I finally decided that Brighton was the right choice for me. Yes it is really far away, and yes it will probably be more expensive for me but at the end of the day I just feel like I'd be really happy there. And I know I'll be able to cope. That's all that matters
