CC/BB Creams vs Foundations: Summer

Hello you beauties!

Even though I live in England and everyone knows that the weather isn't always the best, but there are times where it is warmer than usual. Sometimes I feel like foundations are too heavy for the warmer weather. So what should I do instead?

I've found that CC or BB creams are a better option for those warmer days. Whenever I wear foundation during the warmer hours, I often feel like my face is melting off and my foundation begins to irritate my skin and feel sticky. So I want something lighter for my skin that still offers coverage. And CC and BB creams definitely do that - although they don't offer as much coverage as foundations but they offer enough for it to still feel comfortable.

Admittedly I don't actually own that many CC and BB creams as when I find ones I like, I prefer to just stick to those as I use foundations for most of the year and don't want to spend a lot of money on products I do not use much.

My favourite CC cream is definitely the Max Factor CC Cream. It offers a great coverage and you can barely feel it on your skin, meaning it is perfect for when the weather is warmer. However, there are not many shades in the range - I think I only found 3, those being 'fair', 'medium' and 'dark'. I am a considerably pale person so I thought that the 'fair' shade would be the best for me but it is actually slightly too light for me and if I'm not careful then I feel like it washes me out. I have found though that if you use a bit of bronzer with this shade (unless of course you are an extremely pale person) then it's not too bad. The bonus is that it is actually quite moisturising and doesn't cling to the dry patches around my nose, which I love because I suffer from dry skin so I struggle to find foundations and creams that don't cling.

The only problem with this CC cream is the fact that I don't think it's that available in drug stores anymore. I know it is a product that was brought out a few years ago and the only place I have ever seen this is a B&M store (which is where I bought my bottle of it) and I think it is also available on the amazon website. If you do manage to get a one though they are a reasonable price - I'm pretty sure I bought mine for less than £5, which is definitely a great price as it lasts for a long time.

My favourite BB cream is the Garnier BB cream (or also known as a tinted moisturiser). This offers slightly less coverage than the Max Factor CC cream as it instead gives a more natural glow with a bit of extra colour to your skin. This is a product I would definitely recommend for those extremely hot days or those days where you're feeling confident about your skin.

Again, this cream only has a few shades (the same as the Max Factor cream) but because these are more of a tinted moisturiser it means that one shade can be suitable for a range of skin tones, at least in similar spectrums.

In contrast to the Max Factor CC cream, this BB cream is much more available in the drugstores - I bought mine from Tesco for around £5 but I know you can also buy it for around the same price at many other places such as Boots and Superdrug.

If I can, I will always use foundations as I do not like my skin and believe that foundations offer a much better coverage, but I will still use BB and CC creams where necessary.

Are there any BB and CC creams that you use and would recommend to other people? Let me know in the comments!

I'll be back next week with another post for you all.

What's In My Travel Makeup Bag

Hello you beauties!

When you read this blog post I will actually be in Brighton! I am so excited as I've always wanted to go and now I finally get to. So I thought it was only right to tell you what makeup items I will be taking in my travel bag to Brighton with me.

1. My Illamasqua primer
This is the best face primer I have ever used and is the perfect travel size so can easily fit in my bag.

2. Garnier BB cream
While I still want a nice base for my makeup, I am only in Brighton for a couple of days so do not want to worry about using a heavy foundation. So I've decided to bring this BB cream with me as it offers great coverage.

3. Collection Lasting Perfection concealer
I think this is a staple product in most people's makeup collections! It offers amazing coverage and blends really well and is especially great paired with a BB cream.

4. Rimmel Stay Matte powder
I have always loved this powder and because it is compact rather than lose it means it is perfect to use while travelling and doesn't (hopefully!) make a mess.

5. Seventeen Define and Conquer contour kit
While away, I only want my contour to be very subtle, which is not really what I get with my beloved Benefit Hoola bronzer. So I chose to take this little contour kit with me as it really does contour your face well without being over the top.

6. MUA blush in 'Cupcake'
I love nude blushers and this is such a small, compact blush and so fits perfectly into any look and my makeup bag!

7. Makeup Revolution Baked Highlighter
This is the one I got from their advent calendar and I have honestly fallen in love with this highlighter so much over the past month or so! Plus it's quite small so easy to fit in my makeup bag.

8. GOSH eye primer
I always use this primer and have done for a very long time. It's really nice and moisturising and really makes your eyeshadow pop!

9. NYX nude quad
This is one of those that you can make yourself and I have some really nice nude shades in this palette as who doesn't love nude shades!? I want to keep my eye look as simple and easy as possible while away so this palette is perfect.

10. Soap and Glory Lid Stuff palette
Of course I'll take some shimmer shades too! I love shimmer eyeshadows as you all will know by now. And this palette has some of the most gorgeous nude shimmer shades I have ever used in my life, and is the perfect size (it is very small with only 6 shades) to slot into my makeup bag.

11. No7 Intense Volume mascara
This is my go-to everyday mascara at the moment. It's not the best for volume (despite the name) but it is perfect for that simple natural look I am intending to do many times over my trip.

12. Freedom brow pomade in 'Blonde'
This is honestly one of the best eyebrow products I have ever used. I can't go anywhere without filling in my eyebrows, and because this product is the perfect colour for me and so easy to use, it was obvious that I would be taking it on my trip with me!

13. Seventeen clear definition mascara in 'Clear'
Of course I can't forget to set my brows once I filled them in and this clear mascara is the best product I have found for this.

14. NYX butter gloss in the shade 'Madeleine'
I don't want my lips to be too bold or a difficult colour to use while I'm away so a lipgloss is the perfect product to take with me. This nude lipgloss from NYX is honestly one of the best lipglosses I have ever used as it has an amazing colour pay off for a lipgloss but also is not too sticky,

So those are the very limited amount of makeup items I have taken on my trip with me but as you can see I chose them specifically so that I could create a lovely nude 'no makeup' makeup look. What makeup do you usually take on a trip with you?

I'll be bringing you another post on Saturday (I'll be back from Brighton by then)!

My Summer Makeup Routine 2016

Hello you beauties!

As Summer is here, the weather is often getting a lot warmer. So I felt the need to change my daily makeup routine, as during the winter I often had a much heavier and fuller coverage which would be too much for the hot weather. So here is my Summer makeup routine!

1. So after applying my primer, I would first usually use a BB cream rather than a foundation, as it still offers coverage but it is not quite as heavy as foundation. I would usually use the Dead Sea Spa Majik or Garnier BB cream, although I have also been trying out a Maxfactor CC cream too.

2. Next is my concealer, and I use the Bourjois radiance reveal concealer. I love this concealer as not only does it cover up blemishes and dark circles well, it also brightens your skin too, making you look alive and fresh for those summer days.

3. As I always do, I now apply a light dusting of my Rimmel London Stay Matte powder on the areas I get oily during the day.

4. I then move onto my eyes, starting with my eyeshadow. So I apply my eye primer, and the one I use is the GOSH roll on eye primer, which has become such a staple in my makeup collection recently.

5. For eyeshadows, I am loving nude colours but also with a touch of glitter, so I am loving using my Stila 'Eyes are the Window' shadow palette in 'Soul'. The eyeshadows are extremely creamy and pigmented and hardly ever crease, so I have found myself using this palette a lot.

6. I hardly ever use eyeliners, but in the summer days, I am loving applying white eyeliner to my waterline to give my eyes a little more definition. At the moment, I am using the Rimmel London soft kohl kajal eye liner pencil in the shade 'Pure White'.

7. Next I apply a couple of coats of my favourite mascara, the No7 Exceptional Definition mascara, on my upper lashes, and a coat of my Clinique bottom lash mascara on my bottom lashes. Mascara is definitely my holy grail product!

8. I love having lighter brows during the summer. So, I simply just use my Soap and Glory eyebrow tint and pencil in the shade 'Love is Blonde' followed by using a quick coat of my Maybelline brow mascara (the transparent shade).

9. I love love love pale pink blushers during the summer days! I use my Makeup Revolution Hot Spice palette a lot, but I have also been loving the MUA blush in the shade 'Lolly' this summer.

10. I usually forget to use lip liner, but when I do, I love to use clear lip liners as you can use these with any shade of lip stick/lip crayon. The clear lip liner that I use is a L'Oreal Paris one.

11. Pale pinks are a staple for me during the summer months, with the sun being brighter and lighter, so should our lips. So my darker pinks and purples are put to one side and out come my pale/light pinks and fushcia colours.

And of course, I use my Makeup Revolution setting spray to set my whole makeup look.

I hope you enjoyed this post! I would love to know everyone's summer makeup routines too! I'll be back on Wednesday with another post for you all!
