My Favourite Highlighters
Hello you beauties!
Highlighter has to be one of the best parts of any makeup look. But there are so many out there that it is hard to know which ones are worth buying. So today's post is going to be my personal favourites, and I hope it'll give you some ideas of which highlighters to buy next.
One of my favourite highlighters is the mini highlighter I received in my Makeup Revolution advent calendar. It's a lovely white/silver shade with specks of gold in it. It's a lovely pop of colour/highlight, perfect for parties and nights out. While I don't think you can buy this exact highlighter from the brand outside of the advent calendar, I would definitely recommend some of their strobe highlighters which offer the same amazing pop of colour.
Another highlighter I love is actually a palette, one I'm sure you've all heard of. It's the Sleek Solstice Highlighter palette, and these have to be the first highlighters I ever loved. I especially love the shades 'Hemisphere' and 'Equinox' which have lovely orange and purple tones to them. They provide very intense highlights too so only use them if you plan to go over the top with them or use it with a light hand. Such great value for money too, at only £9.99 for the palette.
However, my favourite highlighter of all time has to be the I Heart Makeup Unicorns Heart rainbow highlighter, which is something I was lusting over for such a long time and now finally own. It adds a great range of colour to your look as well as being the best pigmented highlighter I have ever found. It is quite large too, which is great as it is only £5! You can choose to only use one of the colours or can mix them all together for such a beautiful shade.
There are many brilliant highlighters in the world but these are just a few that I love. Give it a year and I probably will have more to add to this list. What are your favourite highlighters?
I'll be back on Saturday with another post for you all.
I hope you liked my post. If you did, be sure to subscribe/follow, comment and share with friends.

Things I Learnt in 1 Year of Blogging
Hello you beauties!
So two days ago marked the 1st year anniversary of my blog! I can't believe I've managed to keep it up for a whole year - I never expected to stay so dedicated but I'm glad I have because I really do love writing my posts for you all. Deciding to become a blogger was one of the best decisions of my life and so I am going to share with you everything I have learnt in this past year through blogging.
1. It'll be hard to build up an audience
If you've been here reading my blog since the very beginning, then I just want to thank you, because honestly I was nervous about starting my blog. Knowing I do have readers is very comforting but, to be honest, you can't always expect to have a massive audience. When I first started writing my blog, I thought I would get tons of readers straight away. That is not how it works. It's going to be tough, and take a while, to build an audience, but as long as you love writing what you're writing about, then that's all that matters.
2. Creating a schedule is important for motivation
I have tried to create blogs before, but never managed to keep them going as I had no schedule. So I never had any motivation to upload any posts. But now, I have my schedule of Wednesday and Saturday at 9am, and this keeps me motivated as I am always making sure to have posts ready for you all. Planning these posts in advance really help too.
3. You won't get tons of brands emailing you for collaborations
This was one part of blogging that I was really looking forward to. Of course, free items are nice but that was not the only reason. Helping to promote brands that I love to help them get more customers will make you feel great too. However, I have not yet had such opportunities. I've written for a dating website, but that is all. Yes, I got recognition on their website but that was it. If you want to work with brands, you have to approach them. Which in itself is almost impossible as they're always looking for people that stand out, that have a massive audience. And there are so many bloggers out there which means that it is very unlikely that you will get to work with brands straight away.
4. Coming up with post ideas is not easy
It's hard to not repeat posts that you've already written when you upload so many posts for so long. You also don't want to feel like you're copying other people's posts, although you do really like the idea of putting your own take on something (which is completely alright, as the origin of most post types is not always obvious). This is why I spend an hour or so every so often planning a month's posts, and looking through posts that I have already written. There are some great generic post ideas on the internet too which I often swear by.
5. Not everyone will approve
While a lot of people seem to be blogging these days, there are a lot of people in life who will see it as a waste of time. Those calling it a hobby are at least bearable, as it is true that most people are doing this as a hobby, but, especially for those of us who hope to make a career out of writing one day, it can be quite insulting to have people be so dismissive. Just ignore these negative people - you're doing what you love and that's all that matters.
6. Your posts will seem worse than they are
You will definitely understand what I mean by this if you're a writer like me. Whenever you write something, you feel like it sounds uneducated and boring, but in reality a lot of people will enjoy your writing style. You learn to hate your own writing because you're forced to read it so mjuch and often end up criticising it more than you probably should. There is a reason why your blog has readers, and that is because you're a good writer.
7. Social media is key to promotion
While having well-written posts with interesting content is important to building an audience, how are readers going to know about your blog if you don't promote it? Social media is key for this - build a Twitter page and interact with readers. Create an Instagram account and post your favourite blog post pictures, linking your blog on there. I wish I used my Twitter page more - I guess this is something I should aim to do more within my next year of blogging.
I hope you have all found this post useful today, and I would also like to thank you all for reading my blog for this past year. I can't wait to see what this next year brings for me.
I'll be back on Wednesday with another post for you all.
I hope you liked this post. If you did, be sure to subscribe/follow, comment and share with friends.

My "No Makeup" Makeup Look
Hello you beauties!
While sometimes I love going crazy with my makeup and using crazy colours, there are times where I do prefer wearing makeup where it looks like I'm not wearing any or hardly wearing any. I always have a set routine for my "no makeup" look, so I thought I would share that with you today.
1. Nivea Men Post Shave Balm Primer
This is my go-to primer at the moment. There's nothing better than feeling moisturised and refreshed before starting out your makeup routine for the day.
2. L'Oreal Infallible 24H Foundation in "Vanilla"
This foundation is great for everyday wear as it's not too heavy and really does last quite a while.
3. Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer in 'Ivory'
While I don't always use this concealer as it does not offer as much coverage as my beloved Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, but because this is so light weight and brightening, it is good for that healthy, natural look.
4. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in "Translucent"
You all know I love this powder a lot, and is great to set your makeup no matter what, and great to travel with.
5. MUA Blusher in 'Cupcake'
I love these blushers from MUA as they're so pigmented and so easy to use. 'Cupcake' is a lovely nude blusher which helps add a more natural tone to your cheeks while still making it look like you're not wearing any/much makeup.
6. GOSH Eye Primer
This is the only eye primer I rely on at the moment - it helps that it is so cheap too!
7. Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Collection 2017 Palette
I always use this palette now as it has so many different shades (144 in fact) so I mix up some of the natural/nude shades to create the perfect eye look for my "no makeup" look.
8. No7 Intense Volume Mascara in 'Black'
No7 have always been my favourite for my 'everyday' mascaras - I use so many because I'm always using them for work and college as they always as volume and colour as well as looking very natural.
9. Soap and Glory Archery Brow Pencil in 'Love is Blonde'
I am obsessed with this brow pencil - it is a great shade for me, so easy to use and looks so natural too.
10. Lip balm (any)
It is always a great idea to keep your lips hydrated before putting on a lip product, or is great on its own to present that natural makeup look.
11. NYX Butter Gloss in 'Madeleine'
Most often than not, I just stick to lip balms but on the days where I want to add a little more to my makeup look, I will add this nude NYX lipgloss, as it basically looks like your lips but better. And it's not sticky either.
Do you have your own "no makeup" makeup look? Please feel free to share it with us through the comments.
I'll be back on Wednesday with another post for you all.

Makeup Revolution Ultimate Eyeshadow Matte + Shimmer Collections 2017 Review
Hello you beauties!
You all know that I love Makeup Revolution as a decent drugstore brand and so when they were having a sale on a while ago, I had to see what was going on and see if there were any good deals on. I think I went a little crazy in this sale and bought two massive eyeshadow palettes - with 144 shades in each palette! One contains only matte shades and one contains shimmer shades. And I swear by these palettes now.
I love the fact that there is such a massive range of shades within these palettes - you can literally make any look! Whether that be a smokey eye or a nude/natural look. Not only are there so many shades, these eyeshadows are extremely pigmented and very, very easy to blend. As there are so many shades, with the eyeshadow pans being bigger than you expect too, you won't be having to buy any more eyeshadow palettes for a while (unless you really want to of course)!
How much did it cost, I hear you ask? Only £10 for each palette! I know, I was very surprised too. Yes, they were half price but even at that price you don't expect as good quality as you actually get in this palette.
There are obviously some negatives to these palettes. One is that while these eyeshadows are quite pigmented for the price, they are (of course) not quite as pigmented as more expensive palettes can be. I would definitely choose a Stila or Too Faced palette over these ones if I had the money to, but they are great palettes if you're on a budget and/or are just starting out.
Also, the mirror included with the palettes are not great - they are incredibly tiny. I don't see much point in these mirrors as you have to hold the massive palette very close to you just so you can see, which is really awkward. Honestly, they just shouldn't have included it.
Overall I love these palettes a lot as I find them to be great value for money and offer all kinds of possibilities. If you can still get hold of these, please do so. It is worth it.
Have any of you tried either/both of these palettes out? If so, what are your opinions?
I'll be back on Saturday with another post for you all.

Nivea Men Post Shave Balm Review
Hello you beauties!
Today I am bringing you something very rare on my blog - a review! This balm definitely deserves a post of its own on my blog as it is such an amazing product, although it was never actually intended to be a makeup product, but has now evolved to become a very popular primer.
There are many reasons why I like this primer. I think the main reason I love this product so much is because it is extremely affordable - these can easily be found in the drugstore. I'm sure I only paid around £2-£3 for mine and you get a reasonably sized bottle of it.
It also has a very strong scent to it, which is great if you like the smell (I know I do), but if you don't, then don't worry because the smell lasts for just a few seconds as you apply it - once it's all rubbed into your skin, you can't smell it at all. Obviously the smell is stronger the more of it you use, but another benefit of this product is that "a little goes a long way" - you only need to use the tiniest dot of it otherwise instead of being tacky and moisturising, it can make your skin real greasy instead.
However, there is one main negative to this product, this being the packaging. It is in a glass bottle which can be quite heavy, a lot heavier than usual bottles of primers. This can make the product hard to travel with and store (therefore I usually choose to travel with one of my smaller packaged primers instead, and store this one by standing it on top of my chest of drawers rather than in my makeup drawer). The packaging also has no pump which is very awkward as it is hard to control how much of the balm actually comes out of the bottle.
But overall, despite the awkward packaging, this product is amazing and definitely worth the hype. It makes an amazing primer and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something affordable.
Have you tried out this primer? If so, what is your opinion about it?
I'll be back on Wednesday with another post for you all.

Lust List Spring 2017
Hello you beauties!
We're in the second quarter of the month already - time is flying by so quickly! We always find ourselves wanting new things, so today I decided to bring you my lust list for this spring!
1. Makeup Geek Eyeshadows
I feel like every beauty blogger has been obsessing over these eyeshadows for a long time now and I have always been so desperate to try some. They seem amazingly pigmented, very reasonably priced and there is a brilliant range of shades to choose from. I'm going to try my best to have built up a decent collection of these by the end of the year.
2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette
I have been wanting this palette for a very, very long time but never got round to buying it - probably because I can never afford it! There are a lot of pink shades in this palette too, and pink is a colour that I don't usually use that much but I am always willing to try new things and I have heard amazing things about this palette too so I am sure it will be worth it.
3. Morphe Makeup Brushes
I am obsessed with buying new makeup brushes - I'm sure I own more than I actually need. I also find that the more they cost, the better quality they are. So one brand I have been looking at for new brushes is Morphe, as I know a lot of people love their brushes. They're not too expensive either, so I am looking forward to buying my first ever brush set from them in the near future (something to look forward to post-exams, I suppose).
4. Nails Inc Nail Polishes
You all know I love nail polishes a lot. In the past, I have had problems with a Nails Inc nail polish but I think it was just one of those things, as I received another one since then which I absolutely fell in love with. I want to collect more of these, and as they are not that expensive I'm sure I can build my collection up straight away and pretty quickly.
5. Lime Crime Liquid Lipsticks
Anyone who has been reading this blog since the beginning knows that I've not always been the biggest fan of liquid lipsticks but I have been experimenting with different liquid lipsticks recently and I am becoming more used to them as time passes. Then I heard of the Lime Crime brand and how amazing their formula was. These are definitely products that I will be wanting to try out a lot in the future.
Is there anything you have been lusting over recently?
I'll be back on Saturday with another post for you all.
I hope you all liked this post. If you did, be sure to subscribe/follow, comment and share with friends!

Monthly Favourites March 2017
Hello you beauties!
3 months of 2017 have passed so far, and I must admit this is the hardest post for me to write so far this year. This past month hasn't particularly been great for me, as college has been difficult and I was very ill at one point. So I haven't been using makeup that much this past month, and due to my exams approaching I have spent most of my time studying rather than doing much else. But I've managed to find a few things for both the beauty and non-beauty sections just to write this post for you all.
Let's start with the beauty favourites.
My first favourite of this month is something I was seriously surprised to love (despite its massive price tag). It is the BareMinerals Original Foundation in the shade 'Light'. I've heard great things about this foundation before, and in a way I expected it to be good as it costs over £25, but once I realised it was a powder foundation, I was unsure. I have never used a powder foundation before so I was unsure about how they actually worked and if it would work for me. It doesn't offer amazing coverage but it does feel very light on my skin, which is perfect for college as it doesn't make my face feel greasy, lasts all day and doesn't crease. Even though it costs a lot of money, I would seriously continue to use it a lot in the future.
The next beauty item on my list this month is the Bourjois bronzer that is shaped like chocolate. I mentioned this last month where I mentioned that this was a product I hardly ever used. Well, I started using it every time since then and it reminded me of how amazing it was. It's a light lighter than a lot of the other bronzers I have ever used in my life, giving me a gentle glow rather than a harsh tan (I have found that darker bronzers are more likely to oxidise). I prefer this for my bronzers as, being a very pale person, I don't want the bronzer to look too harsh on my skin but I do want to darker it slightly. And another great thing is that it smells amazing too - just like chocolate!
The final beauty item of this post is the I Heart Makeup Unicorns Heart Highlighter, which I have been so desperate to own this, but it was always sold out on Superdrug. But then I found it on the brands website and ordered it straight away. This has become my favourite highlighter ever, as it is very pigmented, easy to blend and gives a beautiful glow. It's a rainbow highlighter which is great as you have a choice of just one colour or mixing them all for the out of this world glow.
Now onto the non-beauty items.
I have loved watching 'The Big Bang Theory' on Netflix recently, especially putting it on in the background whilst I have been studying. I have watched every episode of this show before (when I was very ill with tonsillitis for the first time last year) but it's so great that I will constantly watch it over and over. I study maths at A Level now and studied Biology at A Level a couple of years ago so there are some jokes within it that I do understand, but there are some that I don't understand and have to get my very nerdy science-y brother to explain to me! But I would recommend it to anyone looking for a very entertaining show to watch.
Another thing that I have been interested in this month is actually a very controversial subject, I've been interested in this before, but recently I have been looking into Astrology a lot. I know a lot of people don't believe in astrology but I always find it fascinating, such as the idea that your star sign can affect your personality. It's something that I would love to study in further depth in the future.
The final thing in this post is the SacconeJoly family and their Youtube channel. I heard about them a couple of years ago but only just started watching their vlogs within the past few months. And they're just the sort of family that you get invested in, as on camera they seem like the perfect family. It is the highlight of my day to watch their usual 15 minute vlogs. I also wanted to offer a massive congratulations to them on the birth of their new baby girl!
What have you all been loving this month? I'm hoping that the favourites post for next month is easier and better to write/read next month, as I am hoping this next month is going to be slightly more exciting (due to the Easter holidays),
I will be back on Wednesday with another post for you all.
I hope you all liked this post. If you did, be sure to subscribe/follow, comment and share with friends.
